I became interested in stencils as a product of living in New England. The rich history of decorating walls, itinerant artists, fancy painting, creating something from very little, moved my imagination. I explored using drawings to simplify them into a stencil. By repeating the stencil, in various sizes and colors, against a background that was graded I worked to make a sense of space. It was exciting to develop a sense of the outdoors inside on four walls.
